Bromley were somewhat unlucky to come away from Chelmsford with nothing to show for a much improved performance after the obligatory red card and penalty were awarded against them late on in this entertaining game.
The Ravens started well with Liam Harwood firing just wide and both Tony Finn & Mike Jones causing problems in midfield. After a good spell Bromley took the lead on 7 mins when Sanchez Ming crossed for Hakeem Araba to knock the ball down to Richard Pacquette who slipped the ball under Stuart Searle for 0-1.
Chelmsford responded with a sustained spell of attack Marlon Patterson hooked one off the line, Jordan Parkes fired over as did Anthony Cook while Joe Welch saved from Jamie Slabber & Parkes.
Following a corner Bromley twice had to clear the ball off the line and Craig Parker hit the bar before City eventually got their equaliser. Harwood was caught out of position as a deep cross was headed home by Slabber for 1-1on 35 mins.
The Ravens rallied late in the half with Danny Waldren and Tony Finn just off target.
The second half saw Chelmsford take the lead on 57misn when Aaron Rhule lost possession and Cook sent in a curling ball from out wide that caught Welch out and just dropped in under the bar.
Once again Bromley responded positively when Finn played in Ming who crossed for Pacquette to bravely head home the equaliser on
65 mins.
Then came the crucial moment in the game as Patterson went in hard on Cook and was shown a straight red card after vigorous protests from the home team.
Then from the resulting free kick Harwood was judged to have handled the ball by Referee Mr George and Slabber made no mistake from the penalty kick to put the home side 3-2 up on 74 mins.
Welch saved well from Craig Calver before Mark Goldberg’s men made one final push for an equaliser, but failed to make a break
through and suffer a second away defeat this week.
